We make sure each child receives the developmental exercise they need.  Tummy time, story time, free play and even art are all a part of our early beginnings program.  And no need to worry, we make sure Mom and Dad are apart of it all, and can watch their little one take these exciting steps from anywhere they have an internet connection.

Infant Room (2-12 Months)

Our infant room is specifically designed with these little ones in mind.  Each child has their own designated crib and bin for the myriad of personal items babies require.  We have a three sink system in the room to provide as hygienic an environment as possible. Our room has its own fridge, so parents can easily provide breast milk for their little one if they choose.  The center also has both formula and baby food available at no extra charge.  We work closely with parents to introduce food in such a way as to avoid any allergen confusion or risk.

Infant Room

This age range spans four different classrooms at the center allowing for the vast differences in physical size and development.  From our sweet wobbly toddler to our big strapping and now potty trained socialite. Our rooms are designed to aid in the children's development.  From age appropriate toys and furniture, to toddler sized bathrooms bringing potty training down to their level. We are committed to encouraging strong healthy development.

Toddlers and 2's

Our Toddler's and 2's are one of our favorite age groups.  This age is full of growing independence which of course can lead to some tears and tantrums but it also leads to amazing leaps in communication, social skills, and large and fine motor skills.  Its at this age that children learn empathy and friendship.  Nothing will melt your heart faster then a 2 year old who just has to kiss the freckle on your hand because they believe its a "boo boo".

Our 2 year old class rooms also begin introducing the children to more structured learning by including short periods of time for circle time, singing time, and other group learning sessions.  We find this decreases anxiety about structured learning later on and promotes social skills.

Toddler's & 2's

Early education sets the tone for children's expectations of their formal education.  By preparing them both mentally and emotionally for their formal education we strive to reduce early anxiety and promote a love of learning, and pride in their accomplishments.  Our curriculum is fully accredited and unlike many of our competitors, it is not designed by overworked and underpaid teachers on their free time.  Instead our teachers are provided the time to learn and become well versed in our expert designed curriculum.

This not only improves their ability to really focus on your children but it makes sure that our curriculum is consistent with what the children need, to be "School Ready."

Preschool (Age 3-5)

Our Preschool age children range from age 3-5.  Its during this time that we begin getting our young one's "School Ready".  This includes consecutively longer periods of structured learning, spattered around in between free play.  Here at North Star we believe that children should remain children for as long as possible and play is how children learn about the things that really interest them.  By watching how they play and what they choose to play with during free time, our teachers learn more about what excites your children and how better to instruct them during structured time.

Preschool

Our School Age Program is for grades 1-6.  We provide a nutritional breakfast before we transport to school, and a nutritional snack after we pick them back up.  After school we allow them to work some of those wiggles out on our private playground, have some fun with their friends, and depending on their schedule we may even have some time to work on some of that homework.  We do our best to help with a few math or vocabulary questions and depending on your school rules we can even sign off on reading time sheets.  We also love to add in some art projects, and yes we know they are getting big, but having an adult read you a story once in a while never gets old, and can be a helpful reminder to older children that reading is FUN.

Kindergarten &
School Age Program

Our Kindergarten Program is available for both half day and full day kindergartners.  Depending on your child's schedule, we make sure they arrive at school on time, recently feed, with coat & backpack in tow ready for a good day at school.  We will be there to pick them up after class, make sure they get lunch or a snack, and some fun playtime with their friends in both structured and free time activities.  Some of our kindergartners may have a hard time adjusting to the new schedule, so we make sure to give them extra cuddles and for some, even a little quiet/nap time is in order in the beginning.  Just like with our preschool classes we strive to help the children have a positive experience and do our best to support them through what can be a stressful transition.

We transport to and from our local schools

for full day classes.

We currently transport to the following schools.

  • Burton

Kindergarten & School Age
Summer/Off Track Program

School Breaks &
Summer Program

We provide care to our school age students whenever the public schools are closed at no additional cost.  Our Summer Program is complete with educational activities and field trips to keep their young minds working.

Our summer program begins with any child who is old enough to begin kindergarten the following school year.  Once they reach this age, they are big enough that we can safely transport them to off sight fieldtrips.  Prior to the fieldtrip our students spend time learning about topics surrounding our next field trip.  Field trips happen about every other week from the time school lets out, until school begins again in September.  We also bring visitors onsite when possible. We believe these field trips should not only be fun, but safe.  With this in mind our average child to teacher ratio during an off-site event is 4 children to 1 adult.  On each field trip there is always at least 2 adults with full First Aid/CPR certification.
